Having had a number of tasting and dining experiences at Penfolds Magill Estate, its hard to know what to share.
Perhaps some advice for those that may be intimidated by this majestic facility. Don't be! Go on in and have a tasting of the lovely wines they pour. If you wish step up to some of the more premium pours. Just go, they will take good care of you no matter your experience or knowledge.
Magill Estate Heritage Experience - On this tour you get to immerse yourself in the history of one of Australia’s oldest, iconic wineries
"Walk through the original working winery, explore the vineyards and uncover the historic tales of the underground drives.To complete the Penfolds experience, a wine tasting at our cellar door is a must. Taste a selection of wines from The Penfolds Collection and the diverse and limited Cellar Reserve range."
Magill Estate Heritage Experience -
"Walk in the footsteps of winemaking legends and learn of their craftsmanship and enduring winemaking philosophy.Begin your tour at the original Grange Cottage, the 1844 home of Penfolds founders Dr Christopher and Mary Penfold. Explore the vineyard and discover the underground cellars on a private journey through the heart of our original winery.Conclude the tour with an exclusive selection of our most coveted wines, including the flagship Grange, in one of our private tasting rooms." This one is truly special!!
Twilight Tour and Luxury Degustation Dinner -
"Join us on a guided historical tour just on twilight. Your host will take you on a journey through Penfolds history including a visit to the Grange Cottage and our vintage cellar. You will also experience the underground drives and see the original hiding spot of Max Schubert’s hidden Grange.Your host will then lead you to our award winning Magill Estate Restaurant where you will enjoy a 7 course Degustation Experience. Each course is matched with a wine carefully selected by our Sommelier from our Cellar."
While we have not done this particular tour we have done each component. The restaurant food and the wine pairing is sublime!
You can also stop in for lunch and experience Magill Estate Kitchen which combines a relaxed casual dining experience with breathtaking views of the historic Penfolds vines and the city of Adelaide.
After lunch enjoy a great tasting of your choice. Make sure you book if you want something special.
The Estate is open 7 days a week from 9am-6pm. Closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Go on by and enjoy an iconic Australian facility and also their fabulous wine. If you can, do not miss the opportunity to have an amazing meal and wine combo in a magical setting, we highly recommend you do.
