Airport to hotel. How to do it!
Getting from the airport to your hotel can significantly influence the start of your trip. Here are some of the best options to consider:
1. Hotel Airport Shuttle Services: Many hotels offer shuttle services that provide a convenient way to reach your hotel. But you need to check to see if it comes at a cost. These shuttles often run on a set schedule and can be free. Some will have a fee that can add up fast.
2. Public Transportation: Utilizing buses or trains can be an economical choice. Most major airports have direct connections to city transit systems. This option is often the most budget-friendly, though it may take longer due to stops along the way and can be very complicated.
3. Rideshare Apps: Services like Uber and Lyft provide a flexible and convenient means of transport. Simply request a ride via their apps, and you'll be picked up from designated areas at the airport, whisking you directly to your hotel.
4. Taxis: Traditional taxis are readily available at most airports. While they may be more expensive than shuttles or public transport, they offer a direct and comfortable journey.
5. Car Rentals: For those who prefer independence, renting a car is an option, but only if you're planning to explore the surrounding area. Not so convenient if you don’t need a car for a while.
6. Limo service: This is our favorite mode of transfer transportation. Look, it’s not generally as expensive as you may think. This actually can be very inexpensive and often over nice perks. If there are 4 or more of you it is almost always cheaper than shuttles.
For our trip that started in Rome we had Stephano’s RomeCabs pick us four up in a very swanky Mercedes Van with a leather captains chair for each of us.
The driver was waiting with one of those big signs with ‘Welcome Winewalkabout’ on it. Helped wheel our bags. Loaded the van and provided us all with water. The drive into Rome was so comfortable. We also added a tour with our transfer. Our driver the drove past most of the must see places to give us a lay of the land. Showed us how to use the fountains and gave us a list of restaurants and other tips. All for about the same as a shared shuttle.
There are a number of services throughout the world that do this. In Athens we used Blacklane just for two. Still way cheaper than the shuttle and way more comfortable and convenient
Choose the option that best fits your budget, comfort, and convenience to kick off your travels smoothly, and don’t be afraid to treat yourself to get that holiday started right.
Cheers, have a good one, or two...
