Staying connected while traveling

Greetings, intrepid travelers! 🌍

Having been traveling from the United States to Australia and Europe for many many years, staying connected has often been expensive and quite the hassle. Using US based carriers add on’s is expensive and so not ideal.

Using SIM cards purchased locally in a travel phone wasn’t bad but came with its own limitations and you had a second phone to carry around as well as not be connected when you landed.

Then we discovered the eSIM. It’s a game changer!

Using an eSIM is like having a digital Swiss Army knife in your pocket. It eliminates the hassle of switching physical SIM cards, and allows you to seamlessly hop from one network to another without ever having to fumble with tiny pieces of plastic. This means you can safely use your own device.

With an eSIM, you can easily purchase and activate local, regional, or global data plans from numerous providers, often (almost always) at much lower rates than international roaming fees. This ensures you stay connected with high-speed internet for maps, translations, social media, and keeping in touch with loved ones. Moreover, eSIMs offer the flexibility of managing multiple plans from different carriers, all from the convenience of your smartphone. No more waiting to get to wifi or worrying about the daily costs from your carrier.

We used one from Orange in France this last summer, which was fantastic. Convenience, cost-efficiency, and connectivity—eSIMs are the ultimate travel companion!

The one drawback is there are so many choices!

It appears from our research that the name carriers and some others are your best bets. Careful when reading reviews that they are from an independent reviewer and not one on commission or kickbacks. Generally, there’s a discount attached is the clue.

If you have a relatively new iPhone or Android device that’s not locked by your carrier then you can use eSIMs. Just download the eSIM, activate it, and enjoy high-speed data.

Stay connected champions,
